Cross-Cultural Connections in Mock Battle: From African Dance and Kung Fu to Capoeira and Breakin’
Presented by Global Artists Collective in association with 4Culture and Third Place Commons

An all-ages free event
at Third Place Commons, Lake Forest Park
Sunday, March 17, 2019, 1:00 – 2:00 pm

Join us for special demonstration performances and Masters’ panel discussion about mock battle in various dance and martial-arts cultures around the world. The dance-theatre ensemble TRIBE-olution explores the roots of contemporary break dance (b-boying & b-girling) in traditional African dance, Brazilian Capoeira, and Kung Fu. At this interactive event, dancers and martial artists from the local Hip Hop, African dance, Capoeira, and Kung Fu communities will illustrate cross-cultural connections in movement and discuss their cultural contexts.
